Read Aloud Pro is a text-to-speech browser extension operated by Peak Productivity. This policy explains exactly what the extension stores, the one thing the Pro tier transmits, and the limited data we process.
The following is kept locally in chrome.storage.local on your own browser and is never transmitted to us:
When, and only when, you play a Pro neural voice, the specific text you selected, pasted, or asked to be read is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our proxy at peakproductivity.online. The proxy forwards it to Microsoft's Edge text-to-speech engine and streams back MP3 audio.
This text is processed in memory only. It is not logged, stored, profiled, or sold. It is used for the single purpose of generating the audio you requested, then discarded.
The free tier never does this. Browser voices read your text entirely on your device, with nothing sent to us or to Microsoft.
This is why our Chrome Web Store listing declares the "Website content" data type: that text is website content you have chosen to have read aloud.
| Data type | Collected? |
|---|---|
| Personally identifiable information (name, address, ID) | No |
| Health information | No |
| Financial and payment information | No (handled by Stripe) |
| Authentication information | No |
| Personal communications | No |
| Location | No |
| Web browsing history | No |
| Limited feature usage events | Yes, pseudonymous |
Pro subscriptions are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe processes your payment under its own privacy policy. To bind a purchase to your browser, the extension may pass its pseudonymous device id to checkout as a reference. No personal data is attached.
If you choose to enter your email on our welcome page for listening tips and voice updates, it is stored with our email provider and delivered via Amazon SES. You can unsubscribe from any message at any time. We do not require an email to use the extension.
The extension sends limited pseudonymous events such as first open, read started, paywall shown, checkout clicked, and Pro feature blocked. These events include a random device id, timestamp, extension version, event name, and small event properties. They do not include page text, browsing history, URLs, or personal identity. Our marketing website may use standard web analytics. Neither is tied to the text you read.
The extension itself uses chrome.storage.local rather than cookies. Our website may use cookies for basic analytics and, on checkout, the Stripe pages set their own cookies.
Local data lives on your device for as long as the extension is installed. Uninstalling Read Aloud Pro removes it. The text you send for Pro audio is not retained after the audio is generated. Payment records are retained by Stripe as required by applicable tax and accounting laws. To delete saved data yourself, clear it in the extension's Library and Settings, or uninstall the extension; for anything else, email us.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data and to object to processing. Because the extension stores its data on your own device and does not collect identifying information, most of this is in your direct control. For any request, contact us at the address below.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
Read Aloud Pro is a general-audience accessibility tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
