Overview
Broken Link Checker checks links on the current page from your browser. Page URLs, link targets, page content, and scan results are not included in analytics. If you explicitly opt in to anonymous feature-use and reliability analytics, the extension may send limited events to help improve the product.
Link checks run in your browser. Optional anonymous analytics exclude page URLs, link targets, page content, and personal information.
What We Collect
Only when you explicitly opt in, Broken Link Checker may send anonymous feature-use and reliability events to help us improve the extension:
- Feature-use Events: We may count actions such as starting a scan or using an export.
- Reliability Events: We may record anonymous error or failure details needed to improve reliability.
- Consent State: Analytics are sent only after you choose to opt in.
What We Do NOT Collect
Analytics do not include:
- Page URLs you visit or scan
- Page content or HTML
- Link URLs found on pages
- Link status codes or response data from your scan
- Your browsing history
- Personal information such as your name, email, or location
- Page URLs, link targets, or page content
How Scanning Works
All link checking happens in your browser:
- When you click "Scan," the extension extracts all links from the current page
- The extension makes HTTP HEAD/GET requests directly from your browser to each link
- Results are shown to you in the popup and stored only in your local browser storage
- Results are shown to you and stored in local browser storage.
Page content and link targets are not included in analytics.
Telemetry Endpoint
If you opt in, anonymous feature-use and reliability events may be sent to:
Events can describe extension actions or reliability issues. They exclude page URLs, link targets, page content, scan results, and personal information. You can leave analytics disabled.
Payment Processing
When you purchase a Pro subscription:
- Stripe processes checkout information only after you choose to upgrade.
- The extension receives a subscription or license confirmation, not your card details.
- Stripe's Privacy Policy governs payment data.
Local Storage
The extension stores data locally on your device:
- Extension preferences and local usage counters
- Your preferences and settings
- Your license/Pro activation status
Scan data stays in local browser storage unless you choose to export it with the Pro CSV export.
Third-Party Services
Broken Link Checker integrates with:
- Stripe for checkout information, only when you choose checkout
- Peak Productivity license service for Pro validation, which receives a license ID
Each third party has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data needed.
Data You Control
You can:
- Clear extension data through your browser storage controls
- Leave optional analytics disabled
- Export your scan results to CSV
Security
Communication with Peak Productivity services uses HTTPS. Keep your browser and extension up to date.
Children's Privacy
This extension is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy. Changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension means you accept the updated policy.
