Your clipboard data never leaves your device. We can't see it, hackers can't steal it.

info 1. Introduction

Clipboard History Manager is a Chrome extension that saves a local history of text you copy to your clipboard. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what data the extension accesses, how it uses that data, and what we do and do not collect.

We believe your clipboard contains private information — passwords, personal messages, financial data — and that information should never leave your device. This extension is built with that principle at its core.

extension 2. Chrome Extension Permissions

Clipboard History Manager requests only 4 permissions, each used for a specific and limited purpose:

clipboardRead

Reads the text content of your clipboard when you copy something. Used only to save clips to your local history. We never transmit clipboard content to any server.

storage

Saves your clipboard history and settings locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. All data stays on your device. We have zero access to this data.

alarms

Used to schedule periodic license checks (every 30 minutes) for Pro subscribers. No personal or clipboard data is involved.

activeTab

When you click the extension icon, we briefly read the current tab's URL to record which page a clipboard clip came from. This is stored locally with the clip and is never transmitted.

shield 3. What We Do NOT Collect

This section is deliberately prominent because it is the most important part of this privacy policy:

  • close We never send your clipboard data to any server. Everything — every clip of text — stays on your local device.
  • close We do not read the content of web pages. The extension only reads what you explicitly copy to your clipboard.
  • close We do not access your browsing history. We only know the URL of the page you were on when you copied text.
  • close We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. There is no data to sell because we don't collect it.
  • close We do not track you across websites. The extension only activates when you copy something.

database 4. Data Storage

All clipboard history is stored locally using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:

  • Location: Your browser's local storage on your device
  • Access: Only the Clipboard History Manager extension can read it
  • Transmission: Zero — data never leaves your device
  • Deletion: Uninstalling the extension removes all data. You can also clear data through Chrome Settings > Extensions > Clipboard History Manager > Storage.

Free users are limited to 50 clips stored locally. Pro users have unlimited clips stored locally. Pinned clips are never automatically deleted.

credit_card 5. Pro Subscription & License

When you upgrade to Pro, the following applies:

  • Device ID: A random pseudonymous identifier is generated locally on install. It is used for Pro license verification, checkout attribution, payment-to-install activation, and PP Pro bundle activation. It does not contain clipboard content, and it does not contain your name or contact details by itself, but it can be linked to your purchase email or Stripe customer ID when you buy or activate Pro.
  • Payment: Processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
  • License verification: Our server checks your device ID against our license database every 30 minutes (via a background alarm). This check sends the device ID needed to verify the subscription. It does not send clipboard data.
  • No additional data: Upgrading to Pro does not grant us access to any additional data on your device.

mail 6. Optional Email Signup

The welcome page offers an optional email subscription for tips and tutorials. This is entirely voluntary and uses SendSimple (a self-hosted email platform):

  • Your email is only used to send the newsletters you opt into
  • Every email contains an unsubscribe link
  • We never purchase, rent, or add email addresses without explicit consent
  • Signing up for extension tips does NOT subscribe you to other Peak Productivity emails

delete 7. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Clipboard history: Stored on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual clips, clear all non-pinned clips, or uninstall the extension to remove all data.
  • Auto-cleanup: You can configure clips to auto-delete after 7, 30, or 90 days. Pinned clips are never auto-deleted.
  • Pro license record: Retained as needed to verify your active subscription.
  • Email list: Retained until you unsubscribe. Removed within 30 days of unsubscription.

child_care 9. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware of inadvertent collection from a child under 16, we will delete that information promptly.

history 10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the extension or applicable law. Significant changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
