Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for the Chrome extension Transcript & Summary for YouTube, made by Peak Productivity. We aim for the shortest, clearest privacy policy you have ever read for a browser extension.

What we collect

We collect the smallest amount of data we can to make the extension work and to count active users.

• Anonymous device ID. A random string generated on first install, stored locally. Used to verify your Pro license and to rate-limit AI features on the free tier.
• Growth events. Anonymous events such as "first open", "first summary generated", "paywall hit". These contain no transcript content and no personal data.
• Email address. Only if you check out for a Pro Pass through Stripe or subscribe to our newsletter. Used to deliver your subscription and to send the emails you signed up for.
• Transcript text. Only sent to our server when you explicitly click Summarize, Ask, Translate, or Make flashcards. The transcript is sent to our AI provider, used to generate the response, and then discarded. We do not store the transcript text.

What we never collect

• We do not track which YouTube videos you watch.
• We do not read your YouTube viewing history.
• We do not collect transcript text unless you explicitly trigger an AI action.
• We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
• We do not embed third-party tracking pixels in the extension.
• We have no access to your YouTube account, Google account, or any other identity.

Where data is stored

Local data (saved summaries, settings, history) lives in your browser via Chrome's storage.local. If you opt into Pro cross-device sync, your saved summaries are also encrypted and stored on our server at peakproductivity.online linked to your anonymous device ID.

Server logs (license checks, AI calls, growth events) are kept for 90 days for debugging and rate-limiting, then deleted.

Third parties

• Stripe processes Pro subscription payments. Stripe sees your card and your email. We never touch card data. Stripe privacy policy.
• Anthropic is the AI provider for summaries and Q&A. Transcript text is sent to Anthropic to generate the response. Anthropic does not train on API traffic. Anthropic privacy policy.
• SendSimple handles newsletter subscriptions if you opt in. SendSimple.

We use no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels.

Your rights

You can clear all extension data at any time by removing the extension or by going to chrome://extensions, finding this extension, and clicking Remove. Server-side data is deleted when you ask, by emailing support@peakproductivity.online.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything that materially affects user privacy, we will update the "Last updated" date and post a clear notice in the extension.
