Does this work on every YouTube video?

It works on any video that has captions, either uploaded by the creator or auto-generated. Live streams, music videos without lyrics, and videos with captions disabled are not supported. The extension tells you up front when a video cannot be processed.

Is this affiliated with YouTube?

No. YouTube Study Notes Pro is an independent third-party Chrome extension built by Peak Productivity. It is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with YouTube or Google. The extension simply works on top of the public video page.

Where does the transcript come from?

Captions are fetched anonymously from YouTube's own public timedtext URL, the same data your browser already loads to show subtitles. No Google sign-in, no API key, no copy of the video itself. Your library stays in chrome.storage.local.

What is the Free vs Pro difference?

Free gives you 3 study packs per week with clipboard export. Pro unlocks unlimited packs, a saved library, PDF export, Anki CSV export, Markdown file download, and long-video mode for 1-hour-plus lectures.

How much does Pro cost?

$5 per month or $29 per year (a 52% discount). Subscription only, cancel any time from your account dashboard. There is no lifetime plan and no one-time purchase.

Why does the extension need permissions?

Four permissions, all minimal. storage for your library and settings. activeTab to read the current video page when you click "Create study pack". downloads for the PDF / Anki / Markdown export buttons. Host access limited to youtube.com for caption fetching and peakproductivity.online for license verification. No <all_urls>, no background scraping.

Can I get a refund?

Will it handle a full lecture or conference talk?

Yes, on Pro. Long-video mode chunks the outline into sections and paginates flashcards, so a 90-minute lecture stays readable. Free is capped at typical-tutorial length to keep generation fast.
